Marci Bunn is the newest addition to the Strategic family. Originally from Kansas, Marci's love for animals
developed early as she would regularly tame the wild farm cats and bring home pets of all shapes and sizes.
Marci's bond with her animals has carried her through life where she has enjoyed working with all animals from
cattle and horses to parakeets and hamsters.
Her second childhood love was sports. She participated in softball, volleyball, basketball and track. She led her
summer basketball team to a national championship in 1995 and enjoyed all-state honors in volleyball, basketball
and track. It was thru sports she gained her "can do" attitude and developed leadership skills as team captain.
Marci Bunn's official introduction to business came during her college career at Kansas State University. While
majoring in Accounting, Marci worked within Internal Operations of the Kansas State University Foundation. It
was during those formative years she built an understanding of company infrastructure, along with clear goals
and management and how those underlying parts of business created a vehicle for success. She was able to
further develop her leadership skills while coaching high school volleyball and basketball programs.
Marci Bunn's education along with her coaching background have presented her with opportunities to further her
knowledge and abilities while holding successful management roles in ecommerce, storefront retail, promotional
products, manufacturing, information technologies, agriculture, transportation, and real estate. These
experiences have provided extensive knowledge in infrastructure, organization, management and marketing.
Marci has taken special interest in using today's information technology resources to maximize business
potential thru web design, optimization, content writing and marketing direction. Marci is enthusiastic about
combining her passion for animals and the professionals who care for them and her business knowledge to forge
fruitful partnerships.
Elise Lacher has worked extensively with veterinarians for over thirty years as a consultant for both business
owners and practice managers. For the past fifteen years Elise has worked exclusively with veterinarians. A
Certified Public Accountant, Elise also holds a degree in Psychology from the University of Missouri and spent
several years as a social worker before moving into the world of accounting and consulting- she has held many
hands through a lot of hard times.
Elise became involved with veterinarians through her own passion for animals. She is an avid horse person and
exhibits her horses at major shows throughout the country. Elise is currently learning the sport of competitive
driving. Elise is also a passionate pet owner, frequently sharing stories about her pets, including her newest
dog, Rachel Ray, an endearing red nosed pit that she recently adopted from the SPCA in Tampa Bay. She has
been on the Board of Directors for the SPCA Tampa Bay for many years and is an enthusiastic ambassador for
pit bulls.
Because of her own experience with animals as well as her vast professional experience, Elise is uniquely
qualified to understand both the equine and small animal veterinary professions as a consumer and as a
consultant. She has helped veterinarians start their first practice, buy a new practice, and sell their practice to
the next generation. Of particular interest to Elise is working with veterinarians to determine what their business
goals are and then working with them to achieve those goals. A cornerstone to achieving this is having correctly
and timely prepared financial statements and then helping veterinarians understand what the statements are
telling them about the financial health of their business. A clear and effective communicator, Elise helps
veterinarians navigate the intricacies of accounting, IT management, tax planning, and other financial issues in
order for them to run a successful business and achieve their goals.
With her psychology and social work background, Elise is also an invaluable resource when it comes to
personnel management. Elise helps set up the systems to keep your staff and clinic running at maximum
efficiency. When conflicts arise, Elise's background allows her to get to the root of the problem and offer
effective solutions.
Elise has been extensively published and is a sought after speaker at veterinary conferences. She is an active
participant in VHMA, Vet Partners, as well as currently serving as Vice President of Education of the Gator
Toastmasters club. Elise is an invaluable partner for your veterinary practice and has the knowledge, experience
and patience to walk you through every step of the way on your road to success.
Dr. Jim Guenther is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine class of 1970.
Upon graduation he was an associate at Randall Veterinary Hospital (owned by Drs. Joe Solomon and Ron
Genovese) in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1973 Dr. Guenther moved from Ohio to Asheville, NC where he set up an
equine/companion animal practice. He successfully managed the practice until the mid nineties when the
rigors of equine work and his desire to pursue an MBA led to a career change. In the summer of 1999 he
graduated from Pfeiffer University in Charlotte, NC with a dual degree (MBA/MHA). As part of his course work
Dr. Guenther laid the foundation for an Emergency/Critical Care 24/7 facility in Asheville, and at the same time
he joined Brakke Consulting, Inc.
As administrator of the 24/7 Dr. Guenther began to work with local veterinarians to aid them in recognizing and
developing their plans for practice improvement through a better understanding of practice management
strategies. Dr. Guenther is a charter member and past Treasurer of the Association of Veterinary Practice
Management Consultants and Advisors (AVPMCA) now known as VetPartners, a national organization of
individuals interested in educating and promoting practice management to veterinarians. He is currently the VP
for VetPartners.
Dr. Guenther is presently a principle in Strategic Veterinary Consulting, Inc. (SVC). Dr. Guenther and the other
members of Strategic offer a full range of practice management, marketing, and valuations services to
veterinarians. Dr. Guenther's main focus in practice management has been practice valuation, financial
analysis, and practice operations. In 2009, he became certified as an Accredited Valuation Analysis (AVA).
He has performed countless full valuations and feasibility analyses for buyers.
Michelle Seitzmeir is the head of accounting at SVC and is here to hold your hand throughout all of your
bookkeeping endeavors. She earned a degree in International Studies with minors in Russian Area Studies and
Economics from Eckerd College in St Petersburg, Florida and is currently pursuing her CPA degree.
Unlike many other accountants who work with veterinary clinics, Michelle began her career in accounting as a
bookkeeper for several local veterinary clinics and then began to study accounting. As a result, she understands
the ins and outs of working in a vet clinic. Like many animal lovers, Michelle has accumulated a few pets (5 dogs,
2 cats, and 3 horses) and found veterinary accounting to be a unique opportunity to combine her love and
knowledge of animals with her understanding of the bookkeeping and accounting involved in a veterinary clinic.
Michelle has been with Strategic since the beginning and is excited to be able to offer Strategic's clients a truly
specialized resource base that can help them make the most of their business.
Michelle is able to provide a wide variety of accounting and bookkeeping services. From setting up your practice's
bookkeeping protocols to sorting through and organizing your current books, Michelle is available to assist and
train you and your staff. Once comfortable with the day to day financial upkeep of your practice, Michelle
continues to be there to answer questions and offer support on a monthly or quarterly basis, providing you with the
tools you need to correctly diagnose the health of your practice.
An avid show jumper, Michelle competes as frequently as possible, especially in the spring time when the horse
shows come to Florida. She is Vice President of Membership at the Gator Toastmasters club here in Gainesville
and is working on completing her CPA coursework at the University of West Florida.
